Recently I was looking for something quick and simple to make my hubby and I for dinner and came across this Korean Beef recipe. It was absolutley delicious and I would recommend this dish as a go to for a quick meal for the kids as well.
1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
1 pound of ground beef
3 cloves of garlic
1/4 cup of Brown sugar
1/4 cup of Soy Sauce (can use low sodium if you want)
1/2 teaspoon fresh minced ginger
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
Salt and Pepper to taste
1/2 cup sliced green onions
- Brown ground beef in the sesame oil and add garlic toward the end of browning. Drain the fat.
- Add brown sugar, soy sauce, ginger, salt, pepper. Simmer for a few minutes to blend the flavors. Serve over steam rice and top with green onions.
I adjusted the recipe by omitting the sesame oil and red pepper flakes. I also substituted minced garlic for the fresh garlic and I used ginger powder. I added garlic and onion powder and a little cumin. To top it off, I placed an egg over easy on top; for me this made the dish. If your looking for a vegetable, I think this dish would pair well with steam broccoli either incorporated in the dish or on the side as well as red bell peppers.
I hope you enjoy and share if you decide to try this recipe, Bon Appetite!
